The function of crack and joint sealing is to restrict surface water penetration into underlying pavement base and sub base layers to help maintain pavement structural capacity and limit further degradation. Sealing also reduces crack/joint growth by restricting entrance of incompressible material into the crack/joint and reducing degradation of the crack faces by sealing them from the environmental exposure.
Sealing of pavements will function as a pavement preservation treatment. Studies have shown it to slow the rate of deterioration to provide future benefits which result in longer pavement life.
Crafco's complete line of sealant and sealant application equipment is designed specifically for crack and joint pavement preservation.
