A premium product formulated and manufactured to extend the life and enhance the appearance of bituminous pavements. AMGUARD 5-250 counteracts the destructive forces of oxidation, moisture, and petrochemical accumulations inherent with asphalt surfaces.
- Cold state application provides a highly bound seal
- Will not sag, flow or blister when fully cured
- Non-flammable
- Cured sealer affords an easy-to clean surface
- USES
- AMGUARD 5-250 tar emulsion sealer is formulated for commercial applications. SPECIFICATIONS AMGUARD 5-250 meets or exceeds Federal Specification R-P-355e June 19, 1987, American Society for Testing and Materials Specification D3320-74T and D410 governing coke-oven tars, FA4 Engineering Brief No. 46A.
- APPLICATION
- Preparation Surface should be completely cured, free of dirt, dust, oils and grease (including detergent residue). Distress cracking to be repaired prior to sealing.
- Mixing
- AMGUARD 5-250 is a concentrate designed to be diluted with potable water at a rate of 20 to 45 gallons per 100 gallons 5-250. The use of AMGUARD Latex Modifier is recommended at a rate of 1-3 gallons per 100 gallons of 5-250, in dilutions of 30-45 gallons of water per 100 gallons S-250. Dilutions in excess of 45 gallons of water per 1 00 gallons 5-250 with or without Latex Modifier are not recommended.
- Sealing
- Surface and air temperature should be a minimum 50"F and rising
- Dampen the asphalt surface if surface and air temperature exceeds 75"F
- Do not apply if rain is predicted within 24 hours
- Temperature and humidity affect curing time.
- Coverage
- Sealer should be applied at the rate of 0.12 to 0.17 gallons per square yard per coat. Variance of spread rate results from degree of porosity and texture of asphalt surface.
- Curing Time
- Curing time varies according to temperature and relative humidity at time of application. Under ideal conditions, allow 24 hours before opening-to vehicular traffic. Under cooler temperatures and/or higher humidity, longer curing time may be required.
